STUDIO POLICY

Fees

Tuition is paid monthly, for 4 lessons of 30 minutes taught once a week. Monthly tuition is due the month prior (i.e. March tuition is due on the last lesson of February). A reminder will be sent 1-2 days prior to the due date.​

Absences

If a student is unable to attend a lesson, they must provide advance notice in order to receive a makeup lesson or credit. Remember, I have reserved this block of time especially for you and, even with ample advance notice, I may have difficulty filling your spot. Advance notice of at least 2 days is requested. Lessons canceled with less than 2 days notice will be charged the regular rate. 

Make up lessons

I offer make up sessions for missed lessons and lessons that fall on a public holiday. Make up lessons are held on Fridays from 5-6 pm. However, when I arrange any make up lessons, they will be at my discretion, to take place over a period of time in that same month.

Please keep in mind that during the year, some months will contain an extra week for which there is no additional charge. It is highly recommended that you attend regularly during these months, helping you to compensate for any lesson(s) you may have missed.

Practice

Learning to play drums is a long process that requires commitment, dedication, and lots of practice. Your progress will largely depend on how much time you put into your at-home practice sessions. I recommend five practice days per week, with 30-minute practice sessions for beginners, and 60-minute practice sessions for more advanced drummers. Use a drum diary to write down any questions, observations, and struggles to discuss at your next lesson. 

Parents Participation

Parents are encouraged to be active participants during the drum practice time at home.

Terminated Lessons

If a student intends to discontinue lessons, 30 days advanced notice is required. I consider it professional courtesy to have sufficient notice for discontinued lessons. This will apply to students who decide to permanently discontinue lessons, and not to just take off time for summer vacation.

 Photos & Media

Photographs and video of students at lessons and concerts may be used for publication and marketing, unless a request to abstain is given.
